Creating a Personal Growth Strategy

Normally January of each year is a time for goal setting and planning for the future as entrepreneurs. Then by week three the goals gave gone out the window as life gets back to the day to day jungle of family and business life. That’s why I don’t do any goal setting in January, that’s a time for execution of the plan. I prefer to think of goal setting as strategy planning where you aren’t making big goals, but tweaking previous goals to focus them better for the year ahead.

How do you create a growth strategy?

Creating a growth strategy is all about you. It’s not about what other people want you to learn or what other people are doing, it’s about you. Take the areas of personal growth, business, or inspiration, and find what works for you. Where do you need or want to develop in those areas? Join a book club and read books to make you better. Get inspired by people who have gone where you want to go. Learn a new skill or technique for 2021 that will help your business improve. A strategy is ongoing so it needs to be done on an ongoing basis. Once you’ve mastered or accomplished a goal start a new one, don’t stop or you won’t grow.

Most people get all excited and try to do everything all at once which is why they usually burn out and don’t accomplish anything. What you want to do is work at a steady pace that fits your lifestyle with tasks that become habit. That is how you grow and improve for the long term. An example of how to create your strategy is write down on a paper all the things that you want to improve on, decide how you would like to take that information in, and add the task to your calendar. This way it will pop up each day or week forcing you to complete it. Then take in the information in the form that best suits your lifestyle and match your action plan to your strategy.
