I am excited to announce that our podcast Cashing in on Creativity has been picked up by our local network YourTV for their television network. YourTV is a brand of Cogeco Television and we have been working with them for many years both as customers and business partners and have enjoyed that relationship. My television show Inspiring Youth has been on their network for four seasons now and I was excited to get a call from Station Manager Stuart Aker about offering a show for their summer schedule. Inspiring Youth runs from September to June each year and having found my podcast thought that might be an interesting show for their audience. Stuart thought I only had a few episodes so when I told him I had over 200 he almost went into shock. This is why I always keep my content, I wrote about it in a recent article that you can read here.
The first episode started on July 1st in the Halton area and a new episode will air every Thursday night at 7:00pm eastern. If you are outside of the Halton area you can hear the interviews on the Cashing in on Creativity Podcast. Thank you YourTV for having the show on your network and if you would like to learn more about Inspiring Youth you can learn more here.

Creating Content can be a daunting task. Coming up with concepts for that content, creating the content, posting it, and then hoping that content will be seen can be a lot of work. As creative entrepreneurs we can get excited about getting started on a certain project and then quickly fizzle out after not seeing results or even worse running out of ideas. To create content consistently takes organization, determination, and persistence. This is why many podcasters and You Tubers stop creating content after a few episodes because they realize how much work it is to keep going.
So why do it?
If it so hard to create content why bother starting in the first place? There can be a number of reasons for starting your podcast, YouTube channel, or personal blog that may include monetization or just to have a platform to relay an important message. It takes time to get a podcast or video channel going but if you keep the end goal in mind you can get there. Creating content can help you become an authority in your industry, bring opportunities in business, and offer ways to make money or even create a whole new business. As someone who has multiple shows and helped others get shows going of their own I have seen this happen for everyone. My own Son started a hockey podcast that led to opportunities working with hockey teams and managing social media accounts for teams.
There are times when you will want to quit, have trouble creating ideas, or even get tired of staying on a schedule but it is important to keep going. Content builds on each other so the first couple pieces may not garner much attention but as you keep going the content will build its own presence and then begin to work as a whole. Just like a book once an author writes several in a series the first one starts to garner attention, the same happens with content creation.
It can be very frustrating at times but if you keep going being a content creator can bring many opportunities. I have some shows that make money and others that don’t make a dime. The shows that don’t make any money have still brought great opportunities. Recently the Cashing in on Creativity Podcast was picked up by Your TV. The station was looking for content to fill their Summer Schedule and asked if I had the content in video form. I was able to provide them a full season of shows with a little editing and it allows for more exposure for the podcast. If I hadn’t kept going with the shows I wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of this opportunity. Below is the video preview for the series.
If I can offer you some advice have multiple goals for your content creation. Have a goal for monetization if that’s what you want. Have a personal goal, and have a goal for how much content you want to create. This way even if you don’t hit all the goals you should hit one goal and then the project will be a success. If you need help creating that content check out some of our previous newsletters. Good luck with your content creation efforts.
